After-Hours Emergencies

If you are experiencing an immigration or personal emergency when the office is closed, please phone UR Public Safety at +1 (585) 275-3333 and the ISO staff member on-call will be notified.  This does not include requests for updated immigration documents or travel signatures, since we are unable to provide these outside of normal office hours.

    Directions to main office in College Town:
    ISO's reception area is located on the first floor of College Town Building 3 (40 Celebration Drive). This building is located diagonally across the parking lot behind the University of Rochester Bookstore.

    There is one entrance to the building from the parking lot, and one entrance along Celebration Drive (near Breathe Yoga). Once you enter the building, follow the hallway until you find the entrance to the Global Engagement & International Services Office reception area.

    College Town is a 15-20 minute walk from the River Campus. Additionally, the College Town Express and the Blue Line university shuttles both have stops located conveniently near our office. If you are driving for your visit, two hour parking is available in the parking lot directly behind the UR Barnes & Noble bookstore.

    Main Office in College Town

    Our main office in College Town (40 Celebration Drive) is open year-round, except for recognized university holidays. 

    Office Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday

    Student Walk-in Advising Hours: 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday

    River Campus Satellite Office:

    Our satellite office on River Campus is available during the academic year (closed during official university breaks and holidays) for limited services and walk-in advising hours.

    Office Hours: 11:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (closed Wednesdays)

    Student Walk-in Advising Hours: 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

    Eastman Satellite Office:

    Our satellite office on the Eastman Campus is available during the academic year (closed during official university breaks and holidays) for limited services and walk-in advising hours.

  • Advising Appointments & Walk-In Advising

    Appointments are required to speak with an advisor or to address detailed questions or concerns. Same-day appointments cannot typically be accommodated, so please schedule at least one day in advance. 

    Advisor appointments typically last about 30 minutes.

    Student Walk-In Hours

    During walk-in hours at any of our locations, an ISO Student Advisor is available to answer quick questions and to review documentation for travel, benefit applications, and more. An average walk-in lasts about 5–10 minutes. For more complicated questions, we will schedule a follow-up appointment.

    Note: ISO Student Services Advisors assist nonimmigrant students who enroll full-time or otherwise pursue specific academic objectives, with or without matriculation to a University degree program. Non-University-sponsored students from Fulbright and other organizations are also supported.

    Note: ISO Scholar Services Advisors assist temporary nonimmigrant workers who engage in authorized employment or self-sponsored research activities at the University.
