After-Hours Emergencies

If you are experiencing an immigration or personal emergency when the office is closed, please phone UR Public Safety at +1 (585) 275-3333 and the ISO staff member on-call will be notified.  This does not include requests for updated immigration documents or travel signatures, since we are unable to provide these outside of normal office hours.

    Directions to main office on River Campus:
    ISO is located on the second floor of Morey Hall, which is next to Rush Rhees Library on the Eastman Quad. We are conveniently located near the library bus stop and within walking distance of most University campuses.

    When you visit, please check in at our reception area located in room 213.

  • Hours

    The main office on the River Campus is open year-round, Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., except for recognized University holidays (adjusted hours will be listed below). We invite you to visit during regular office hours to pick up documents or ask for clarification about required forms.

    At the Eastman Satellite Office, an ISO Student Advisor is available only from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the academic year. These hours are suspended over winter break and the summer, but Eastman students can still visit the main office on the River Campus.

    Student Walk-In Hours

    Our main office’s walk-in hours for students are from 2 – 4 p.m. on weekdays. No appointment is required.

    During walk-in hours an ISO Student Advisor is usually available to answer quick questions and to review documentation for travel, benefit applications, and more. An average walk-in lasts about 5–10 minutes. For more complicated questions, we will schedule a follow-up appointment.

  • Advisor Appointments

    Appointments are required to speak with an advisor or to address detailed questions or concerns. Same-day appointments cannot typically be accommodated, so please schedule at least one day in advance. 

    Advisor appointments typically last about 30 minutes.

    Note: ISO Student Services Advisors assist nonimmigrant students who enroll full-time or otherwise pursue specific academic objectives, with or without matriculation to a University degree program. Non-University-sponsored students from Fulbright and other organizations are also supported.

    Note: ISO Scholar Services Advisors assist temporary nonimmigrant workers who engage in authorized employment or self-sponsored research activities at the University.

January 2018 Hours  Alert! 

The ISO is implementing a new database application to manage immigration records for international students, scholars, and employees. Due to the data migration and mandatory staff training, the ISO will be CLOSED the week of Monday 1/29 – Friday 2/2.

Our reception area will be open from 10:30AM – 12PM daily for document pickup and appointment scheduling. However, ISO advisors will not be available. Our general email questions@iso.rochester.edu will be monitored throughout the week. For routine inquiries, please expect us to get back to you after Monday 2/5.
